Topical chemotherapy is a non-invasive treatment option that can be effective for eliminating small cancerous growths on the surface of the skin and precancerous skin lesions such as actinic keratosis. Under this treatment method, a powerful medicated cream is applied on the lesion regularly as prescribed, which eventually destroys the cancer cells. Not all cases of skin cancer are eligible for treatment by topical chemotherapy. Patients with a more aggressive form of skin cancer, who have recurrent or large cancerous lesions, or have cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes and other organs of the body will need other therapies Dr. Mueller is well versed in treating.
